ITU World Triathlon San Diego debut broadcasts to air Saturday and Sunday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fans will witness the drama surrounding the inaugural
ITU World Triathlon San Diego when Universal Sports Network debuts its television
coverage of the event, which served as the final automatic qualifier for the 2012
U.S. Olympic Triathlon Team, this weekend.

A 90-minute broadcast of the women's race will air at 1 p.m. Eastern on Saturday,
followed by a 90-minute program dedicated to the men's event at 1 p.m. Eastern on
Sunday. Steve Schlanger (play-by-play) and 2008 Olympian Julie Swail Ertel (analyst)
will provide the commentary.
Re-air times for the broadcasts include (all times Eastern):
* Women: May 20, 1 a.m.; May 31, 11 a.m.; June 19, 4 p.m.
* Men: May 21, 12:30 a.m.; June 1, 11 a.m.; June 20, 4 p.m.
Both races also are available on-demand at www.UniversalSports.com.

One of just eight ITU World Triathlon Series events in 2012, the elite races in
San Diego served as the second of two qualifying events to determine the 2012 U.S.
Olympic Men's and Women's Triathlon Team. The third and final spot for the U.S.

Women's Olympic Triathlon Team was on the line, while no U.S. male athlete had earned
a spot on Team USA entering the San Diego event.

The event also played a key role in determining the Olympic squads for a number
of other nations, as it was the second-to-last ITU World Triathlon Series event
prior to the closing of the ITU's 2012 Olympic qualification window at the end of
May.

In addition to the ITU World Triathlon San Diego, Universal Sports Network is home
to the entire eight-race ITU World Triathlon Series, which includes the women's
and men's races in Sydney, Australia (April 21-22); Madrid, Spain (June 2-3);
Kitzbühel, Austria (June 29-30); Hamburg, Germany (August 25-26); Stockholm, Sweden (Sept.
3-4); Yokohama, Japan (Oct. 6-7) and the Grand Final in Auckland, New Zealand (October
27-28). Please note the dates in parentheses are the premier broadcast dates, not
the competition dates.
